


The purpose of the SFAA is to foster and encourage a spirit of good fellowship among
all those who take up the sport of Field Archery.
To promote and develop the use
of all approved types of archery equipment through individual and team competitive
events within the SFAA rules.
The Field Archery Course is made up of either 14 or 28 targets. 14 being a half round
and 28 a full round. Targets are fixed at set distances ranging from 15yds to 80yds
with a shorter one of 35 feet. called the Bunny. The best description is it is set
out like a golf course, but through a wood or valley, or any uneven type ground.
Each course is examined and given a certificate of safety and lay-
Each course can be used for 3 types of shoots. Field round. Hunter
round and Animal round. ( the latter being use only occasionally). Targets faces
are black and white but vary depending on the round.
Each person will shoot 4 arrows
at each target ( a total of 112 arrows in a competition round) each archer hoping
to hit the centre of the target.
Distance of each target mixed as above between 15
and 80yds. shots ranging at various angles depending on the terrain.
All fully paid up members of the Association are covered by Public Liability Insurance
whilst competing in SFAA shoots or shooting on their own club ground. or indoor facilities
all under the rules of the Association, recognised by the SFAA.

Any kind of bow, having two flexible limbs, except a crossbow or bow incorporating
a mechanical drawing device. Optical spotting aids are permitted.
The archer shall
support both the mass weight and the holding weight of the bow without any assistance
from any external aid, other than those defined in the relevant styles.
Arrow speed
shall not exceed 300 foot per second (fps) plus or minus 3 (three) percent.
